Prior to the creation of advanced microprocessor technology, aquiring a keyboard instrument at your house was a fairly amazing thing. Obviously just on the subject of furniture this would have been a big, imposing, and extremely major part of the house. Most of them were also unable to produce polyphonic sound, and the erstwhile musician will be limited to one note melodies with hardly any expression or phrasing attainable at all. It didn’t take a long time for this paradigm to shift, however. Shortly there were an array of high quality electronic keyboards available from many companies. Companies like Kurzweil, Yamaha, and Steinway started to strongly list their own lines of electronics even though they are all popular for creating full-sized acoustic pianos with great skill and attention to detail.

The one thing that everybody was looking forward to can be found with these boards. They had built-in natural, precise key response. The keys had the right weight to them, they fell and rose in the way that a musician expected, and they just basically felt and sounded natural to play. They were still essentially portable and compact on top of that. It did not take up an entire living room or family room, and it was rather likely to keep them in a corner of a bedroom or anywhere out of the way until they are needed.
